Freedom Update: Victory! The battle over the size of city council and unwritten constitutional principles

In this episode of the Freedom Update, Christine explains how a case about the size of Toronto City Council went all the way to the Supreme Court.

The case was a victory for Ontario Premier Doug Ford, who was successful in reducing the size of Toronto City Council. The CCF intervened in the case to argue that Ford did have the power to reduce the size of city council, and the SCC agreed.

But the biggest issue coming out of this case is about the role for unwritten constitutional principles in our legal system. This was the issue the CCF intervened in, and we are thrilled that the majority of the court agreed with our arguments.
