Join us for a special evening on Thursday, March 5th at The Albany Club in downtown Toronto, as the Canadian Constitution Foundation presents the inaugural Cartier–Macdonald Award—a new honour recognizing outstanding defenders of freedom and constitutional rights in Canada.
We’re proud to present the first Cartier–Macdonald Award to Bronwyn Eyre, Saskatchewan’s former Minister of Energy and the province’s first female Justice and Attorney General. Bronwyn’s principled leadership and steadfast defence of individual liberty make her a fitting inaugural recipient. She will also deliver remarks titled “Politics and the Law: the Importance of Boldness,” which promise to be both timely and compelling.
The award will be presented by Christine Van Geyn, Litigation Director at the Canadian Constitution Foundation.
Named in honour of Fathers of Confederation Georges-Étienne Cartier and Sir John A. Macdonald, the Cartier–Macdonald Award recognizes the legal and political vision that helped shape Canada’s constitutional order. Their partnership reflects the enduring importance of federalism, civil liberties, and the rule of law—values this award is meant to celebrate and uphold.
